Today’s Blog Post

Where would you go today – if you could?

Just after the first snow fall I retrieved my shovels and began working on the driveway beside our home. It took about 20 minutes to get the snow off the driveway and open the black surface to the sun. Within about an hour the driveway was black again. So easy!

NOT!

The next day is discovered muscles that were used in a long time. Oh did I hurt!

Now this is from some one that goes to the Gym about 4 times a week… and uses most of the machines to get my muscles moving and my heart beating faster. I am doing okay… until I picked up the shovel.

They don’t have any shovels at the gym! Nor do they have a piles of sand or snow. That might be a good idea. In fact for a while I did think that was original until I discovered that another gym is using ordinary stuff as well.

I am not sure that it is a spoof or not… but it looks real as far as I can see.

The Gym is in Bangkok, Thailand. The Web Site "Tiktokthai" that I found this deal on shows you what they offer for a very good deal. For only B990 for a short period of time, you can lift wheels, do push ups and whatever is ordinary to get in shape. It usually costs B3600… and Tiktothai is a place you can get deals.

Now looking at snow coming, having traveled to Thailand a few times, and needing to get in shape… I figure that this is better than the local Gym. Before I go to the Gym this morning I will wake my wife up and get her ready… we are going to Thailand.

Oh boy.

This post is not about exercise but rather about places… that will sooth the mind and body.

That is the fun of the Internet you can escape what we are in and go to some place where we would like to be… for at least a few minutes each day.

As I have been reflecting on some of the past and present events in my life over these past few days… I have taken a few trips away from here. I have gone to my favourite places in my world – the one inside of my mind. I have tried to rate which one is the best for me.

If I could go there now… here is the start of my list… (BTW – time is not a factor – you can also go back in time to the best place/time)

* West and north of 1422 Elliott Street in Regina, Saskatchewan, during late April and early May – likely more in May. Along a dirt path, near a clear pool of water with the Meadow Lark singing near buy. The smell, the silence and the clean air was amazing.

* Just east of the Chinese University in Hong Kong, sitting in the grass over looking the South China Sea… it was break time from Chinese language study. The soft wind and warm sunshine that morning was amazing.

* On the rocks of Newfoundland’s coast, north of St John’s and down from Gander – about halfway… I had walked out to stand on the rocks and listen to the waves splashing in… the sound of silence was amazing.

* The wheat filed in southern Saskatchewan in August, not far from Wilcox, and the sound of the eternal wind gently blowing from the west. The gusts from time to time made the wind look like water… amazing… simply amazing.

Where would you go today – if you could? In fact – you can… let me know when you get back.
