My how things have changed!

My how things have changed!

Yesterday I sat at my display table as I introduced Tatting and Bobbin Lace to all that came by. There were hundreds!

Most had no idea of what I was doing.  Even older folks that had been in Craft works of all kinds had not heard of the Lace making called Tatting.

The comical part was that some immediately thought that it had something to do with Tattooing.  I had discovered not long ago that Tatting is another word for Tattooing.  Now I saw it for myself… no kidding!  My web hits for my Tatting Whisperer web site is kind of twisted with a number of people looking for Tattoo information!

I am not sure what to think of that.  Am I that much of a dinosaur that what I do is that far gone, almost completely erased from history… Oh Boy!

I posted on Facebook that I would be at the Labrary and that one of the things that would be demonstrated was the rug hooking.  Actually they call themselves the “Hookers”.

So in one corner the Fibre Festival had a Tattoo Artist and the other corner there were Hookers.

No wonder some of the customers and audience had funny looks on their faces and asked some strange questions.

Have you ever felt really old? Or maybe I should ask, have you ever felt confused?

It is a little bit like being transported forward into time and having everything there look and be entirely different. In fact when you arrive the terms and ideas that you once used are no longer the same… everything you refer to is laughed at.

I never thought I would live that long.

I can only imagine what either of my Grandpas would have thought should they came back to life this past week!

Yikes!
