Doing Dr. Dad aint fun – Part Two – but improving

So the new bad word of the day for us is – “MacroBid”. It was prescribed for my wife on Sunday night at the Hospital when she was dealing with a UTI – a bladder infection. She had taken this before – one year ago – and it had worked then, but not this time around.

I know that it will make my Doctor Friends and Medical Personnel groan when I say I found an answer on the Internet… but it worked.

After I read the responses that other patients were having to this antibiotic I stopped her from taking the next pill. Within three hours she was up and walking around. She was weak but now back to herself – or at least coming back. No food for three days can leave you fairly weak as well and with not being able to hold much water down… or not wanting to drink too much because it will just come back up… can leave you weak as well.

Now I smile. We were able to get a Doctor’s appointment by 10 AM. By then Alida was starting to feel much better. He checked her over thoroughly… and guess what… He said, “I think you should stop taking this antibiotic…”

I sat on the chair listening to this and grinned at my wife. I bit deeply on my tongue in that I wanted to tell him that, “On askapatient.com the other folk said…” But I didn’t.

By the afternoon and evening my wife had returned from the never, never land of crying out in pain, groaning in agony and shivering so hard her teeth were chattering… then burning up in a fever of 102.9 to 99.6 to 101.4 to 98.6 to… up and down like a roller coaster.

Dr. Dad doesn’t know everything… but he knows enough that he can’t do the job alone.

I am very thankful that our Doctor cares… and that his secretary is very helpful in her response to my plea for help.

I am so glad to have Alida back from the edge…

Gym time… gotta run… really run…
