Theresa Fraser and Our Siamese Fighting Fish

Last evening, about an hour before our supper meal, my wife came into the kitchen and announced that our beautiful fish had died. Kind of sad to say the least in that we have had it for a long time and it has outlasted at least one other fish – maybe even two.

The fish was so colourful and full of life as it swam in the sunshine. The Fish Guy had told us that the fish would eat better if it had lots of sunshine.

It was a Siamese Fighting Fish that couldn’t be allowed to swim with others in that it had a nasty disposition. When you put a mirror up beside the fish tank he will attack his own image. Not a good attitude at all.

Alida said, “Tomorrow morning we can have a burial for the poor little guy I guess…” with a sad note in her voice. She loved the silly thing! Sheesh!

Later after our meal I was putting away some things and just happened by the fish tank. I nearly jumped out of skin. The plant that is mounted in the top of tank suddenly moved! THE FISH WAS ALIVE! DOUBLE SHEESH!!!!

The crazy thing apparently was asleep in the roots of the plant when my wife looked. It is old – but it is also a live and was just sleeping… or something!

This morning my friend Jessika sent along another story for me.

Apparently Theresa Fraser, 77, a woman who lives in Garden of Eden, N.S., got a shock when she learned she had been declared dead not once, but twice, in the past five months by the federal government.

The story told of her going to the Bank to find out that her Pension Check had not been deposited by the Government. They were convinced that she had died.

Can you imagine if you were Theresa Fraser?

It appears that another woman, that was not far away had the same name and initials, had passed away. So they cut off Theresa Fraser and when they found out that the GST check had been cashed they wanted that money back as well.

In Canada when you die – you die in many departments of the Government. Weird but true.

So Theresa Fraser and our fish have a lot in common. Sit still too long, sleep a little more than usual, or have some one start a rumour and your funeral could be in the works.

Come to think of it… I sleep more than usual lately… don’t move near as much as I did before retirement… and am getting closer to 77.

Sorry I gotta run…. Gotta get to the gym right away… CYA Later!
