Getting Something Done – WOW!

That special feeling of getting something done – WOW! It is rewarding and satisfying at the same time. You just have to tell someone about the little victory.

Have you had that experience it lately? No? Maybe has cabin fever has left you slightly frustrated? You have been locked away inside with a garden buried under the snow… or your favourite outdoor activity not possible with the slippery and wet conditions… that can be pretty much Canada from about November until the end of March.

I think one of the answers should be to hibernate. Crawling inside a dark cave and staying in bed for a few months would be a great idea. BUT There is nothing worse than the old bear pacing back and forth and wanting out of the cave.

Yet the best coping method for a long winter is to set small tasks as my targets and then accomplish one or more each day.

Yesterday I completed construction of my new Spring Pole Lathe. And after about two hours of testing it is declared done and ready to go. Oh that felt good. To top it off I had four visitors come to inspect it and talk to me in the driveway as this is the only place that it can be worked.

The substitute Paper Man came by for a chat. In the course of our conversation he told me that the regular lady that usually comes by is in the hospital. While delivering papers she slipped on ice and cracked her head open.

The Heart and Stroke Lady was canvassing for donations and instead wanted to talk about the strange contraption I was operating.

Two neighbours dropped by – one for a chat and the other to advise me that we have electricity in our neighbourhood now – maybe I should by an electric lathe. That was a giggle moment – good one.

The Job of Building the Spring Pole Lathe is successful. It is stopping people as they pass the Misty Hollow Carving Shop. Perfect.

Next... I just completed 10 new Teddy Bear faces that are ready for the Nip and Tuck clinic of the ten new Teddy Bears. If you haven’t looked at my Web Site – please do so. You will see the two Teddy Bears grinning at you when the Web Site Opens.

Today the actual operation will take place for a few of them. Tonight they will go with me to a Business Network Meeting to meet some new potential clients.

Each morning I take part in a Gym experience that is delightful – but also painful. Setting goals in this new routine has been the Winter Buster as well. Knowing that each day you can reach just a little bit further than you were yesterday is amazing. There is an exhilarating goal accomplishment to that daily routine.

The best part about my New Life is the statement, “I gotta go… I have three things to do today!” It is vastly different than, “I gotta go… I have too much to do!!!”

Today and tomorrow I need to begin the second Lathe that will be involved in the Misty Hollow presentations. Following that a third one is about to happen as well. That will be next week.

There is a deep satisfaction in the reaching of that next goal.

Well I do have to run now. There are three things that must be done before 10 AM today and four before 5 PM. Then if I am lucky I will accomplish one more after Dinner tonight.

I am retired now… and I have no idea where I got the time to work for a living for those 40+ years before. Oh Boy!

What about you? What will get done before lunch today? How about this afternoon and evening?

Good luck and have a wonderful day just doing something.
