Road Trips with Relatives
There is nothing better, at 67 years old, than relatives!

Add to that Road Tripping with relatives… it can’t get any better!

When I was 16 years old I would never have admitted that. Being stuck in a vehicle for a long drive would have killed me back then… or maybe killed them.

Today we begin a series of Road Trips with relatives.

Yesterday the ride home from the airport was filled with stories of family from long ago. Uncle Ben was telling stories and so was I. Stories of the old days and way back when… when some of the stories were so funny… and so good… that I can’t believe that I actually lived through them all.

I found out yesterday that one of my great grandfather was one of the best bare knuckle fighters in the area. He had tough fists and he used them. I found out that my grandpa hated fighting because of what his own dad did with his fists. I think I got that right.

I found that out just after I told my uncle the story about his dad watching one of the men in that pool hall brawl bite the other guys ear off… and another time one of them bit off the other guy’s nose. Grandpa never liked talking about it much… because he didn’t like fighting.

Yesterday that piece of the puzzle came into place for me. I come from a long line of people that can fight… and did. Now that explains my crooked nose, the broken face, and the willingness to stand up for what I believe! All of what I am… came from fighting! And I kind of love a good fight!!!! Oh boy.

All along I thought I was a little nuts!

The Road Trip today will have more discoveries I am sure.

Gotta run… or at least gotta drive a short distance into my past… and I love the stories!
