Today’s Blog Post
Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation – Thank You!
Yesterday was more than interesting! It was fascinating to take part in the day’s events. Talk about interesting.
We joined into an Annual Meeting of the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation – or the short name is Northumberland CFDC. This took place in Cobourg, Ontario at the brand new Cobourg Community Centre (WOW What a place!).
After a luncheon and schmoozing time with people we had never met before, we gathered for the AGM of this group.
I wish that all the AGMs that I have attended over the years ran with this kind of smoothness and efficiency. The church business meetings that I was used to were not quite like that. Ahem!
Our personal reason for being there was to view the newest video production for the Northumberland CFDC. There are four folk and their businesses featured in the short promotional video… and I am one of them.
I held my breath as the video was presented to this very large crowd of community people from the Northumberland area. What would they think? Well… they loved it.
Chris, the videographer and producer, from http://www.ccoproductions.ca/ did a super job of putting together a vast array of clips that he shot at all four places he visited.
If you would like to see the video check this Link to the Northumblerland CFDC out http://www.northumberlandcfdc.ca/ - then click on the small video area which then takes you to a larger format.

At the AGM…
Reports were given to the members that gathered at the AGM that told of the success of the Northumberland CFDC. They have helped hundreds of people launch new businesses in the area.
The one thing that stood out is that there is 60% success rate after three years of business after working with the CFDC program. In other words 60% of business like Misty Hollow, are still in business 3 years later after launching.
60% is very good in that most of the folk that join into the program are struggling with being laid off, loss of purpose, not understanding the complications of starting a business up and have no idea of the hurdles that will be up ahead.
I definitely was that way as I joined into the CFDC program. I needed much help and found it with the folk that were running the program.
It was an honor to be part of the meeting yesterday and hear the reports. It was an honor to be included in the video report for the world to see.
Thank you Northumberland CFDC – you have been a great help to me and Misty Hollow!
